Hypnosis for Anxiety
In the past few years our clients have definitely noticed an increase in anxiety-based issues. Often times they come to see us for something else such as alcohol moderation or sleep issues, but before too long we discover that increased anxiety and/or stress are at the root cause.
Hypnosis is an excellent modality to get excess anxiety under control so you can go back to living your life to the fullest. To best explain how Hypnosis can help, we should first discuss what anxiety is.
Anxiety 101
Anxiety isn't necessarily a bad thing, in fact it serves a useful purpose. Put simply, it is your body's normal reaction to stress. The anxiety response is your brain & body letting you know there's something that needs to be fixed. It can alert us to dangers.
Just like your car has various gauges and lights on the dashboard to let you know when something needs to be attended to. Your body also has it's own warning gauges and lights.

When the warning system is working properly it's super helpful. The problem is that sometimes the system gets confused and fires off the anxiety warning system in situations that don't actually need that response. This is where we can help.
How Does Hypnosis Help?
As you may know, hypnosis works directly with your subconscious mind (SM). Your subconscious mind (SM) has many roles, 2 of the major jobs it has is keeping you safe and ensuring your body is running as it should. Your SM is constantly running in the background to ensure everything is operating as it should. But sometimes it makes mistakes, perhaps categorising something as dangerous when it really isn't.
Imagine if the fuel sensor in your car was faulty and the low-fuel gauge on your dashboard kept blinking even though you had a full tank of gas. Or if your fire alarm at home was going off even though there was no fire or smoke in the area. That is what's been happening with your internal Anxiety Alarm System (which is operated by your subconscious mind).
Hypnosis gives us direct access to the Subconscious Mind which gives us the ability to make repairs, release old beliefs or install more helpful responses. This will help you move through life feeling freer, lighter and more confident!
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Hypnotherapy is a fairly short course of treatment. Unlike standard talk therapy, we don't have to spend copious amounts of time talking about all the life events leading to your anxiety.
Usually, when a client comes to see us for anxiety relief, they typically will see us somewhere between 4-5 times (usually once per week). Of course, anxiety issues can be multi-layered and clients are individual in their needs. We will always work at at the rate you are comfortable, and you can trust that our goal isn't to keep you with us long term. You can learn more about our rates here.
