Hypnosis for Teens (Ages 13+)
While we primarily work with adults, we also work with teens who personally want help and are willing to participate and engage in the process,
We don't generally work with children younger than 13.
When is Hypnotherapy a Good Fit?
Hypnotherapy works best when the teen themselves want support. While parents often make the initial call and manage the booking, the teen must be personally motivated for the process to be effective.
If the teen is pressured, convinced, or required to attend, we recommend waiting until they are ready. Hypnotherapy cannot create meaningful change without willingness.
What We Commonly Help With
We may work with:
- Anxiety and Stress
- Confidence Challenges
- Sports Improvements
- Academic Pressure or Exam Nerves
- Fears and Phobias
Teens must be able to reflect on what they would like to change and communicate their goals in their own words.
What Makes Teen Hypnotherapy Successful
Hypnotherapy is not something don't to your teen. It is something they actively participate in.
Between sessions, teens may be given simple "homework" exercises, self-hypnosis listening assignments, or awareness practices. Follow-through between sessions plays an important role in progress.
If your teen isn't prepared to engage with the process outside the session. it may be best to wait until they are ready,
Structure And Commitment
For teens we typically recommend a 3-5 session commitment. Consistency allows momentum to build and gives your teen time to apply what they are learning.
Intake Process
While it can be an appealing thought to fill out your teens intake form with your desired goals for them, this hinders our progress. We require your teen to complete their own intake form in their own words. This establishes ownership in their progress and helps determine their readiness. It is also useful for us to tailor the hypnosis portion of sessions using similar language to theirs.
Privacy and Parent Involvement
We may begin with a brief 5-10 minute parent introduction. After that, the majority of the session is private so your teen can speak freely.
All sessions are confidential unless there is discussion of harm to self or others.
Initial Consultation
Before booking a first session, we require a brief phone conversation with a parent and, when appropriate, the teen. This allows us to determine whether hypnotherapy is a suitable fit.
If your teen has expressed that they would like support, you are welcome to call 778-331-0959 to arrange a consultation.
